Vinohradská Street
Radio can spread the free word. But it can also be used as an instrument of propaganda. Czech Radio has for many years been broadcasting reports on all imaginable events, including the rise and fall of individuals and even entire countries.
The historical Functionalist building has helped shape Vinohradská Street for nearly a century. Not only because is it a cultural landmark; above all it represents a medium that has its finger on the pulse of the era. The Czech Radio building is synonymous with austere but nevertheless outstanding and functional architecture.
The building doesn’t just breathe history; it is also present in its preserved paternoster and the remnants of a pneumatic tube system. It is no wonder that Czech Radio became the backdrop for several scenes in the film Protector. After all, it’s the very place from which people have learned about revolutionary changes.
