Karlín Synagogue

„The film footprint of a dangerous family.“

Karlín Synagogue

The historical series Borgias tells the story of a family the members of which aimed high and dealt with their enemies with no mercy. Rodrigo and Cesare might come across as anti-heroic, but it was Rodrigo that was made pope later on. The series was partly filmed in the magical spots of historic Prague.

The film-makers headed to Karlín and the series fans could admire the synagogue that is found in this city quarter.

The magnificent construction was built in the mid-19th century in the neo-Romanesque and Maori styles, and bears marks of functionalism after several renovation works. Nowadays, the Czechoslovak Hussite Church holds its masses here, after it bought the synagogue from the Jewish Community of Prague after the war.

When in Karlín, don't miss out on the Negrelli Viaduct, the second oldest bridge in Prague crossing the river, or one of the largest ecclesiastical monuments in the country - Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

If you're a lover of history, Karlín is sure to be your cup of tea.
