Loket nad Ohří

The small town near Karlovy Vary is favoured by film crews. 007 found his way here, as well as a young film soldier.

The town Loket nad Ohří was the hometown of Paul Bäumer, the main film hero based on a character from Erich Maria Remarque's novel All Quiet on the Western Front. The film adaptation from the 1970's shows fresh graduates on a local square, from where they also entered WW I and its horrors.

This very square also witnessed Daniel Craig in his role of James Bond in Casino Royale. He had lunch with René Mathis in one of the local restaurant garden, after he had parked his shiny Aston Martin with great style.

When you visit Loket, don't leave out the local castle, the town's dominant feature. Fancy getting a little romantic? Rent a canoe and travel all the way to Karlovy Vary on the Ohře river.
